Terms of Use

Last updated: November 6, 2025

1. Introduction & Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the "User", whether acting individually or on behalf of a business entity) and Danyl Kecha, trading as Nomos Axis, a sole trader established in the United Kingdom ("Nomos Axis", "we", "us", or "our") concerning your access to and use of the Nomos Axis platform (the "Platform" or "Service").

Nomos Axis operates from the United Kingdom. Our principal place of business is Dundee, United Kingdom.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

We may update or modify these Terms from time to time at our reasonable discretion. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by email or through the Service. Where changes are material, we will provide at least 7 days' notice before they take effect. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may discontinue use of the Service before the effective date of the new Terms.

2. Early Partnership Program

By accepting these Terms, you are enrolling in the Nomos Axis Early Partnership Program (the "Program"), which provides complimentary access to the Platform during its early access stage in return for your participation and optional feedback.

The Service is provided on an "as is", "as available", and experimental basis. While Nomos Axis aims to provide a reliable and consistent experience, we make no guarantees regarding accuracy, reliability, availability, or performance during the Program.

The Early Partnership stage may include feature changes, updates, and temporary interruptions. Your participation does not create any right or expectation of continued free access. When this Program concludes, access may transition to a paid or commercial subscription model. We will give reasonable notice before such a change.

Participants may be invited to share feedback or suggestions about the Platform's operation and performance. Providing feedback is entirely voluntary but greatly appreciated and helps us improve the Service.

3. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You may use the Platform only if you are acting in a professional or business capacity and are legally capable of entering into binding contracts under the laws of Scotland. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

The Platform is intended for use by legal professionals, students, and researchers for lawful legal research purposes only. You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, unauthorised, or fraudulent purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its related systems or networks.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying algorithms of the Platform.
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law, regulation, or court order.
  • Use the Service to infringe on the rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights.
  • Introduce any malicious code, malware, or harmful content.
  • Use any automated system (e.g., bots or scrapers) without our prior written permission.
  • Represent any output generated by the Platform as being authored by a human, or fail to disclose that the content was generated by an AI system, especially in contexts where such misrepresentation causes harm or confusion.
  • Submit confidential, privileged, or personally identifiable legal information unless you are authorized to do so and have obtained all necessary rights and consents. Users remain solely responsible for ensuring they do not violate data protection laws or confidentiality obligations when inputting data.
  • Share your account credentials or allow others to access your account. Each account is licensed for use by one named user (multi‑user access can be available under separate arrangements).

Nomos Axis may restrict or suspend access if it reasonably believes a user is engaging in conduct that violates these Terms or harms the integrity of the Service.

Territorial Restriction:

The Service is intended for use only by individuals and organisations located within the United Kingdom. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that your principal place of business (or residence, if applicable) is in the United Kingdom.

Nomos Axis makes no representations that the Platform is appropriate or available for use outside the UK, and access from other jurisdictions is not authorised. Users who choose to access the Platform from outside the UK do so at their own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws.

We reserve the right to disable or restrict access for accounts registered or accessed from outside the United Kingdom.

4. Description of Service & AI Capabilities

Nomos Axis is an AI-powered legal research platform that leverages large language models like Gemini to allow users to query and explore Scottish statutory and case law using natural language. The Platform provides structured summaries and citations intended to assist legal professionals, students, and researchers in identifying relevant legal materials.

We take reasonable care to ensure reliable data sources and strive to improve accuracy continuously.

Important Disclaimer:

No Legal Advice.

The Platform is a research tool and is not a law firm. It does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or legal services. The information, summaries, citations, and other materials generated by the Platform are for general informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice. You understand and agree that no attorney-client relationship is created by your use of the Platform. You are solely responsible for verifying the relevance, accuracy, and completeness of any content before relying on it, and you should always consult a qualified legal professional for advice specific to your situation.

As-Is Basis.

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or availability.

AI Limitations.

The platform uses artificial intelligence to process legal information and generate responses. While we strive to provide high-quality results, AI-generated outputs may be incomplete, outdated, incorrect, or biased. These should not be relied upon without independent verification. By using the Service, you understand and accept these limitations and agree to use it at your own risk.

We may modify or update the Platform's features from time to time and will give reasonable notice before introducing subscription or commercial access fees.

Nomos Axis operates in accordance with applicable UK data protection and professional‑conduct standards for providers of legal‑technology services.

5. Insurances

Nomos Axis maintains Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance suitable for its operations within the United Kingdom.

These insurances are maintained as a good‑practice risk management measure only and do not expand or modify the limitations of liability in these Terms, nor do they imply any additional warranty or guarantee.

6. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in and to the Nomos Axis platform, including but not limited to the underlying software, algorithms, designs, features, functionality, content, and all related materials (collectively, the "Platform IP"), are and shall remain the exclusive property of Danyl Kecha, trading as Nomos Axis, a sole trader established in the United Kingdom, or its licensors.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to access and use the Platform solely for your own lawful, personal or internal business research purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Reproduce, copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Platform IP (except as permitted under applicable law).
  • Distribute, sell, sublicense, lease, or otherwise exploit the Platform IP or any part of it commercially.
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
  • Use the Nomos Axis name or logo without prior written consent.

You retain ownership of your queries, input data, and results. Subject to compliance with law, you may incorporate AI‑generated output into your professional work product, provided it is used responsibly and in accordance with these Terms.

7. Privacy Policy

We take data protection seriously. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information on how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data. By using the Service, you agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The Service is hosted in the United Kingdom and European Union data centres. If you use the Service from outside those areas, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed within the UK and EU in accordance with applicable data‑protection laws.

8. User Input, AI Output & Training

  • Ownership of User Input: You retain all right, title, and interest in and to the information, data, and queries you input into the Nomos Axis platform ("User Input Data").
  • License to User Input: You grant Nomos Axis a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access, use, process, and store your User Input Data solely for the purpose of providing the services to you through the platform.
  • No AI Model Training: Nomos Axis will not use your User Input Data to train its AI models or for any purpose other than providing the services to you. Your User Input Data will not be used for any other purpose without your explicit prior written consent. This helps maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with data‑protection and professional standards.
  • Ownership of AI Output: Subject to lawful use and these Terms, you own the output generated by the AI platform in response to your User Input Data ("AI Output"). You may use the AI Output for your own lawful professional or commercial purposes. You are responsible for verifying its accuracy and suitability before use.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions, and representations - whether express or implied - including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

While we take reasonable care in providing and maintaining the Platform, we cannot guarantee that it will be error‑free or continuously available. You are encouraged to evaluate all information and outputs with your own professional judgment and discretion.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you use the Service entirely at your own risk. We assume no liability for:

  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in content or results.
  • Losses or damages arising from reliance on AI‑generated outputs.
  • Unauthorised access to or use of stored data.
  • Interruptions, delays, or technical failures.
  • The performance of integrated third‑party tools or services.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Nomos Axis and its operators shall not be liable to you or any third party for any damages of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive, arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service.
  • Any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the content or results provided.
  • Any reliance placed on information obtained through the Service.
  • Any interruption, suspension, modification, or termination of the Service.
  • Any unauthorised access to or loss of data or systems.
  • Any third-party content or integration issues.

Because access under the Early Partnership Program is provided free of charge, our aggregate liability for any claim, to the extent that it cannot legally be excluded, shall be limited to zero pounds (£0.00).

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the Service, your primary recourse is to discontinue participation in the Program.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Nomos Axis, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your access to or use of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your User Input Data.
  • Your reliance on or use of any AI Output.

12. Termination

We reserve the right, acting reasonably and in good faith, to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms.
  • Unlawful or harmful use of the Service.
  • Discontinuation or modification of the Service (in whole or in part).

Where practicable, we will provide notice of suspension or termination in advance.

You may close your account or withdraw from the Early Partnership at any time. Termination does not affect clauses that are intended to survive, including confidentiality, IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification.

13. Third-Party Services and Dependencies

The Service may integrate with or rely on third-party services, technologies, or platforms, including but not limited to AI infrastructure providers, hosting services, authentication services, and data processors.

We do not control and are not responsible for the functionality, accuracy, availability, or security of any third-party services.

Your use of any third-party services is subject to their respective terms of use and privacy policies. We encourage you to review those terms before engaging with any such services through our Platform. For more information on how we use third-party services and processors, please see our Privacy Policy.

We are not liable for any issues, losses, or damages arising from or relating to third-party services or your interactions with them.

14. Feedback

If you choose to provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the Service ("Feedback"), you acknowledge and agree that:

  • We may use, incorporate, and adapt the Feedback in any manner and for any purpose related to the development, improvement, or operation of the Service.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, sublicensable, and transferable licence to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and incorporate the Feedback into the Service or related products, without any obligation to compensate you.
  • Submitting Feedback does not create any confidentiality obligation on our part, and we are under no obligation to use or implement any Feedback you provide.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Service (including non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland.

You agree that the Scottish courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform.

The Platform is offered for use in the United Kingdom only. Nomos Axis makes no representation that the Service is suitable for or intended for use outside the UK, and access from other territories is not permitted.
